Annual Winter Convention

The 2012 IWQA Winter Convention will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn near Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines on Tuesday January 31, 2012. The Board Meeting will begin at 10:00am and all members are invited. The noontime lunch will be a Pizza and Pasta Buffet including Salads, a variety of Pizzas, Pasta with Meatballs, Marinara and Alfredo Sauces and Garlic Bread. The General Meeting will begin at 1:00pm with speakers from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources covering Iowa's Antidegradation Policy, Water Quality Standard Update on Arsenic and Chloride Criteria and Water Quality Standard Triennial Review followed by attorney Rita Grimm with a discussion of Worker's Compensation and Today's Advanced Legal Issues Affecting Your Business. WQA Pre-approved CPD/CEU (seat-time) Credit has been applied for and is pending approval.

That evening, the Cocktail Reception begins at 6:00pm followed by the Annual Banquet where you will have a choice of Thinly Sliced London Broil served with a Cherry Demi Glaze or Grilled Chicken served with a Mushroom Marsala Cream Sauce. The Cocktail Reception and Banquet are being sponsored by Brendan Pierro from Cargill. David Loveday from WQA is the Keynote Speaker and will provide an overview of the benefits of certification along with an update of National issues.

Registration deadline for the Winter Convention is Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Registering in advance is greatly appreciated as it helps us adequately determine our space and food needs however you are welcome to join us as a walk-in should you happen to miss the January 24 registration deadline date.

Be sure to tell them you are with the Iowa Water Quality Association to secure the special rate of $109. Hotel reservations must be made no later than Thursday, January 12, 2012 to secure the preferred rate.

February 2012
On Wednesday, February 1, 2012 there will be an opportunity to take certification exams from 8:00-11:00am. A separate registration form and fees will be required for WQA. Be sure to review the attached form and secure your study materials through WQA now to take advantage of this new addition to our Winter Convention. Then, as in the past, we are hosting a Legislative Event the next day on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 11:30am – 1:00pm where we will entertain our Legislators with a light lunch in Room 116 at the State Capitol Building.
